Electric Marine Boats

Electric Marine Boats

Electric marine vessel

Designed for the Changing Needs of Marine Transportation

SSVPL's proposed electric marine platform can support different vessel configurations and propulsion packages according to the intended operating requirement.

Potential applications include:

  • Fishing boats
  • Day-voyage vessels
  • Passenger boats
  • Tourism boats
  • Harbour craft
  • Aquaculture support vessels
  • Inland-water transportation
  • Institutional and utility boats
  • Patrol and rescue applications

New-Build Electric Boat Process

Our proposed manufacturing process follows a controlled sequence:

Marine Design Hull Construction Structural Fit-Out Fish Hold/Deck Installation Electric Motor Battery System BMS Electrical Integration Navigation & Safety Equipment Quality Inspection Harbour Trial Sea Trial Training Handover

The final vessel documentation can include drawings, equipment specifications, electrical diagrams, battery and motor details, inspection records, test results, sea-trial reports, warranty documentation and maintenance schedules.

Convert Your Existing Boat to Electric

Diesel-to-Electric Retrofitting

One of the key propositions of the project is to convert suitable existing fisherman-owned boats into electric vessels.

Retrofit Process

01

Boat Reception & Inspection

Recording vessel particulars, dimensions, existing engine details and operating conditions.

02

Stability Assessment

Evaluation of weight distribution, displacement, centre of gravity, draft, trim and freeboard after conversion.

03

Diesel System Removal

Removal of the existing diesel engine, fuel tank and associated components where applicable.

04

Structural Modification

Preparation of the vessel for the electric propulsion system.

05

Battery Installation

Installation of marine battery systems and protective enclosures.

06

Electric Motor Installation

Integration of motor, controller and propulsion components.

07

Electrical Integration

Installation of electrical protection, monitoring and control systems.

08

Harbour & Water Trials

Testing of propulsion, manoeuvrability, electrical systems and battery performance.

09

Sea Trial

Evaluation under representative operating conditions.

10

Training & Handover

Operators are trained in propulsion controls, battery monitoring, charging, emergency isolation and routine maintenance.

The DPR specifically emphasises that stability and structural suitability must be assessed before a boat proceeds for conversion.

Why Retrofit?

  • Retain a suitable existing hull
  • Reduce the need for complete vessel replacement
  • Introduce electric propulsion
  • Potentially reduce routine propulsion maintenance
  • Enable battery monitoring and protection
  • Provide access to charging or battery-swapping arrangements
  • Support long-term AMC and technical services

Actual economics will depend on vessel condition, operating hours, electricity cost, diesel consumption, battery performance and other operating conditions.
