Aqua & Marine Pre-Processing

Supporting the Fisheries Value Chain

Alongside electric marine mobility, the project includes an Aqua/Marine Pre-Processing Unit.

The proposed facility is intended for the initial handling of suitable marine and aquaculture products before onward processing, freezing or packaging.

Potential Activities

Depending on final plant configuration and applicable approvals, pre-processing activities may include:

  • Receiving
  • Washing
  • Cleaning
  • Sorting
  • Heading
  • Peeling, where applicable
  • Icing
  • Initial preparation
  • Dispatch to downstream processing facilities

Integrated Marine Ecosystem

The combination of marine transportation and aqua/marine activities creates opportunities for an integrated coastal business ecosystem.
The project can potentially support:

Fisher Electric Vessel Marine Services Landing/Handling Pre-Processing Downstream Processing

This integrated approach is intended to create additional value around the existing marine-fisheries catchment.

Kakinada Marine-Fisheries Catchment

The Kakinada region as a significant marine-fisheries catchment, providing a potential customer base for:

  • Boat retrofitting
  • New electric boats
  • Marine repairs
  • Maintenance
  • Charging
  • Battery services
  • Other marine support services

The project is therefore designed to serve the wider catchment rather than relying exclusively on customers immediately adjacent to the project site.

Community-Based Customer Engagement

The project proposes engagement with:

  • Fishermen cooperative societies
  • Self-Help Groups
  • Community-based organisations
  • Fisheries organisations
  • Institutional partners

These channels can support customer aggregation, awareness programmes, demonstration trials, operator training and financing coordination.
